GHETTO
ORGAN STYLE
DUBROOM PODCAST REVIEW |
| WWW,
December 2007 - When Toots and the
Maytalls performed their track "Reggae
Got Soul", they could very well have
the Ghetto Organ riddim in mind
One-Riddim
CD's are usually interesting for DJ's who
like to play a different version all the
time. On their Podcasts, for example. For
there is a big difference between a CD and a
Podcast.

DRUM
SONG STYLE
DUBROOM PODCAST REVIEW |
| WWW,
December 2007 - Musically, the Drum
Song Riddim incorporates the Nyabinghy
rhythm as well as the standard Reggae
rhythm. So in a way, "Drum Song
Style" really refers to a specific
style!
When you
dance on an ultra-new Dancehall release,
chances are you're really dancing on a
decades-old riddim first played in Studio
One. The Drum Song riddim has it's cradle in
that studio too, when Jackie Mittoo released
the tune back in 1967 (Source: JAMRID.com).

ALI
BABA STYLEEEEEE
DUBROOM PODCAST REVIEW |
| WWW,
November 2007 - The Ali Baba Riddim has
inspired many vocalists and DUB engineers to
record some of their better works. 28
minutes of this great riddim definitely
isn't too much, here!
They're all
there: from the obvious John Holt tune that
gave the title to this riddim to the
legendary King Tubby dubbing it up BIGTIME,
from the necessary Dr Alimantado trimming
the barber to the unexpected David JAHSon in
showcase style.

VARIOUS
ARTISTS - JUGGLING STYLEE!
DUBROOM PODCAST REVIEW |
| WWW,
October 2007 - In the early 1990's, the drum
computer and other digital technologies had
definitely taken over the Jamaican Studio's
and Dancehalls.
It all
started in the mid 1980's with the
Sleng-Teng riddim, a production by Prince
Jammy's. It was the first digital production
and the people loved it. The Digital
Revolution was a fact!

HENRY
'JUNJO' LAWES: RUB A DUB STYLE!
DUBROOM PODCAST REVIEW |
| WWW,
September 2007 - Six out of the ten tracks
in this great 30 minutes non-stop mix
contain the vocal works of Yellowman. Still,
the podcast isn't credited to this legendary
Reggae Toaster who made his name during the
1980's Rub a Dub era.
what's
up with that?
Reggae
historians will tell you, that Henry 'Junjo'
Lawes was the predominant producer of
Jamaican Rub a Dub Reggae in the early
1980's. His name is on just too many albums
and single releases to mention, and some
even credit him with the founding of this
early form of Dancehall back in 1979.
