INVASION OF THE FREEDOM SNATCHERS

A DUB protest against the New World Order and Big Brother who are working hand in hand to enslave the people of the world. Hear the USA threatening to take away the liberty of their own people when they "fit the definition of a terrorist".

The track starts with an original recording of a statement uttered by the Attorney General, John Ashcroft. This man is said to be a "Born Again Christian", he visits a pentecostal church where he "speaks in tongues". Evidently he doesn't study the prophecies there, or he would be fitting the definition of a terrorist that he says will be used to identify those that will "lose their liberties". Read on for one of these "definitions".

MP3.com has shown reluctance in "accepting" this tune. Although it's normal that you have to wait for a month until an uploaded tune gets on the site, it's now two months in september 2003! It has also been released on the dutch Indymedia website

"SATAN"?: There was a strange experience, while the recording of Ashcroft speech was prepared to go into the mix. While playing it backward, my ear caught unto one particular sound: it was just like the name of babylon's supreme ruler ("satan") was spelled out. You can hear it for yourself below (mp3 format, the excerpt contains the "satan sound" four time in a row)

[ FORWARD | BACKWARD | EXCERPT: "SATAN"? ]

My message to America this morning then is this: when you fit this definition of a terrorist, fear the United States, for you will lose your liberty". (Attorney General John Ashcroft) LINK

AND WHO "FITS" THIS "DESCRIPTION OF A TERRORIST"?

"Religiously based domestic terrorists use the New Testament’s Book of Revelation -- the prophecy of the endtime -- for the foundation of their belief in the Apocalypse. Religious extremists interpret the symbolism portrayed in the Book of Revelation and mold it to predict that the endtime is now and that the Apocalypse is near."

Its ok. Sounds alot like the other track- I think the Cydonia track. Its a three from me. Way too similar to other song-the bass line, steppers beat, effects on the skank, basically the whole 'formula'-same ting. Personally, I think youre bass lines are too wordy and busy-need some hesitation spots for flavah.Only observations....

Thnx, especially critical remarks help in a positive and construcvtive way.

I use indeed more or less the same set-up as in Cydonia and Stones of Fire. Not a problem in itself, whole albums are even created in the same set-up. Currently I am building this set-up and it's quite complicated. Yes, indeed, steppers beats and what I would call an energetic bassline.

I don't know how many of my works you know, but I use many different rhythms, basslines and styles. I do like my basslines to be expressing certain personal things. The energy in the bassline on this tune gets dropped every now and then, it is not the same line again and again yet the changes are very subtle. In fact a lot of stuff in my mixes can only be heard when played on a reasonable stereo. When you just hear it though multimedia speakers you will hear about 50% of what is actually in the mix.

I have been told by others too, to "drop the bass" more and more, this is what I am learning to do. Bass is my favorite and I can listen to stricktly drum and bass for hours myself. So it is a weak spot, and I thank you for pointing out to me that in your feeling I should continue to work on creating parts in the mix where the bassline drops or incorporate this in the bassline itself.

However, some of my basslines are deliberatly talkative, and I also have loads of monotonic lines with lots of gaps. For this tune I could think of no better line though. It is a work out of an older bassline which I made back in the early 1990's and no it is not a traditional style of bassline but, well, perhaps, a new style.

I call this style the "last aiwa steppers". Also the hihat rhythm (the flying cuymbals) you do not hear combined with steppers rhythm often. It's more used with the one drop.

Apart from that, the tune should spread across Cyberspace as a tool to wake people up, and will eventually come into the ears of many people who did not hear my other works neccesarily. Please do put it in your Kazaa shared directory ;)

I like it. It's another atmospheric mix, which is both catchy and danceable. I suppose my only criticism about the use of 'Reason' is that it is noticeably electronic, and the effects are similar for different tracks. This wasn't so evident in whatever Messian used in his previous music. Infact, he didn't sound very electronic at all, with the subtle exception of some synthesised guitar effects. In that sense it sounded closer to old school dub reggae, whereas this has a completely different feel. I think it ideally suits a concept album, which is what all these most recent tracks fit into, category wise - Mystery Babylon! The ideas behind them have to be important to you in order to appreciate the music. It would be good to listen to them all in one go. I certainly look forward to more in this vein, but I also hope Messian returns to some of his more analogue style music - it's got clout!

It's true that these more current tunes are much more synthesized. This is deliberately and a long wish by my to do it. I only did not find the right inspiration for it. It's not the software I use, but it's the way I use it. Don't worry though, there's much here waiting to be processed. One of these tunes is a full lyrics tune with Sure Dread on keyboards!

Indeed, the tunes serve a theme and are intended to go together on one album. i am also writing about this stuff but that is not published yet although everyone interested can mail me to get access.

Sorry I'm so critical. I run in professional circles and have been given advice for years- not afraid to spread a little. Sometimes its simplicity and not over-complicated mixing (do you use a mixing board?-live dub needs a board) that makes Reggae music shine, of course. Too much write-up and big-up will make it hard to see the music- seen?

You should never apologiseze for being critical I agree with you that it's good to critique each other and I never took it as an attack of any kind.

I take notice of critique but I also know what I do so it can be that some things are put there deliberatly.

I like this - to me there is definite evidence of development and exploration of change in style from much of your earlier work.

Hi

Nice tune as always you make wicked tunes. I have a question there is an advert on TV and there is a wicked reggae song in it I think it's to do with railways and travel. He sings our love grows and grows thats all I know I don't know the Artist or song but it's wicked. Do you by any chance know who sings it or do you know of anyone else that knows. It would be much appreciated if you could find out for me I must have that song Ha Ha.

Thanks.

Leigh.

It's funny, MP3.com has still not "approved" this :)

I guess that's a perfect example of "Free Speech" I Guess :D

Just happened across this web site. The music was good but more than that the message is true. We are in serious trouble here in the US regarding freedom and liberty. Thank you for your song.

MD, I was most moved by Prophecy to Ebed Melech, and you emailed me a couple of years ago explaining the meaning behind that.

This track is bloody brilliant. My spine is in the bass line, or is that the other way round? Probably, unseen things will wake up and listen to this track.

Very well done.

Overall, I would like to hear some pick guitars on your tracks for some extra flavor.

I am really inspired by what you have here on Versionist and I think I will posting some of my mixes here soon. Thanks for sharing!
