When you go to a reggae concert, changes are
big that sooner or later you will hear the
word "Rastafari". You will
probably see people who others identify as
"Rasta" and the colours Red Gold
and Green are everywhere, too.
Then you go to the Internet to know just
what that "Rastafari" might be and
you come to the conclusion that there are
just too many websites all claiming one or
more things about this movement and when you
put all these things together, you do not
really see a consistent picture.
You might be a Christian and go to
Christian websites where you read more or
less how all Rastafarians are kind of
Antichrist or Satanic. You might be a music
lover and you go to Reggae websites where
you learn that Rastafari is some kind of
Jamaican hippie movement. You guessed it:
there is just too much
"information" that is no
information at all.
Gadman, the leader of the biggest
Rastafarian Organization in the world (12
Tribes of Israel) has explicetly said how he
didn't want no official website for
"his" organization. You hear
people talk about the Internet as if it were
some kind of trap and the truth is, that
most Rastafarians may not even have an
Internet connection.
So then, where to go to get some inside
information about Rastafari? For this, the
Rastafari Online network of websites just
might bring you to a closer overstanding.
The main website, Rastafari Online dot
Com, serves as a portal from which you can
easily find other websites created by the
same group with specific information about
the several houses of Rastafari.
Rastafari comes from Ras (head) Tafari,
the name of the Ethiopian Emperor before his
coronation in the 1930's whwereby he took
the name "Haile Selassie" (Power
of the Trinity). It is the Ethiopian
Emperor, after which the movement is named.
Needless to say, that for information about
the Movement, it is kind of crucial to know
at least a little bit about HIM (His
Imperial Majesty).
This too, is something which the people
at Rastafari Online have noticed. On the
Rastafari Online website, you can find many
video and audio files where you can see
and/or hear HIM speaking out on several
issues.
As far as it can be established, it seems
like Rastafari Online has tried to bring an
objective description of Rastafari on the
Internet. No, they're not the only ones and
yes, there may be points in which Rastafari
Online might not accurately describe
everything. But they do provide a very fair
picture of a Movement which has been falsely
described so many times.
NOTE: The website Rastafari Online does
not contain information about the 12 Tribes
Of Israel, which is the biggest Rastafarian
Orgabnization in the world.
