In the 1970's, Bob Marley and the Wailers inspired
the birth of a whole flood of UK Roots Reggae
bands like Aswad and Steel Pulse. A few years
later, DUB would become another dominant force
and continues to be so until this very day in
2008. For some reason, producers in the UK
kept on developing the Art of DUB also after
Jamaica was said to have lost interest in the
remix technique. And so, currently, UK DUB
productions and releases are very popular even
outside Reggae Circles.
Usually, a UK DUB is produced using "real"
instruments and musicians in combination with
programmed digital material, everything mixed
with ultra-deep basslines. More often than not,
the vocals will contain conscious lyrics which
definitely adds significant weight in the DUB
itself.
DUB ROAD TO TRAVEL definitely is a very good
representation of the deep, deep DUB that is
produced on that Island in front of the I-ropean
continent.
The selections are mixed seamless to ensure a
maximum and optimum DUB Experience from the top
to the very last drop. The excellent show even
contains a few remixes by the Podcaster, who
seem to have come up with a concept of his own:
"mix-plates".
