Much is said about Henry "Junjo" Lawes.
Some say he was illiterate but still managed to
come up with contracts for the many artists that
he signed for his label "Volcano".
DUB Legend the Scientist, for example, mixed
his classic DUB series based on Cartoon and
Video-game characters for the man but he is
recorded as saying to never have released a cent
of the mega-seller that was released world-wide on
the UK based Greensleeves label.
Whatever the case, it's a fact that the music
released on Volcano was the hottest Rub a Dub
label around. Otherwise, there couldn't even have
been a mention of fraud and so on in the first
place, because who cares about nothing?
Yes, when you want to know what Rub a Dub is,
simply checking out the Sound of the Volcano will
do, in away. And Volcano is Henry
"Junjo" Lawes!
Junjo used the Roots Radics who were Channel
One's Studio Band and released a multitude of
vocals, DJ tracks and DUBs of which many remain
classics until this day.
A number of these classics as well as some rare
and therefore very interesting tracks can be found
in the excellent Potcast (no typo) "Sound Of
The Volcano".
It's an upfull Rub a Dub experience that
doesn't have much counterparts in the Podosphere.
For some reason, people keep ignoring the Rub a
Dub era and that is a shame.
