| DUBROOM,
November 14, 2006, 23:13 Western European Time -
am pleased to inform you, that starting
today we have a new thing on the Dubroom.
It's obviously in it's beginning stages, but
we have decided to "go public"
today.
|
|
Who are "we" and why are "we"
"going public"?
"We" are JAH MARK (Mark Ragsdale) and I
(Messian Dread). We are close friends for about 8
years now or so, and have decided to combine our
activities.
As you may or may not know, the Dubroom has
donated webspace for a group called "STAR
Network". Out of that network came a label
and a webstore with products by members of the
network.
JAH Mark ran the webstore, and at a certain moment
he and I decided that we had to combine his
webstore and the Dubroom.
The webstore currently contains the full catalogue
of the Star store. This means, that all the music
in there is produced and released by members of
Star Network. But obviously we are looking to
expand that catalogue with music that could also
be reviewed on the Dubroom.
Towards the end of december, a new German label
will release an interesting DUB compilation, which
will feature a Messian Dread track called
"Transgenics DUB". This album will also
be available through our Webstore.
When you are an artist and interested in us
selling your music, please contact
us.
We also started our NETLABEL. At this stage, we
will release free mp3 files straight from the
Dubroom Studio as well as other studio's. We are
actively looking for artists who are interested in
us presenting and promoting their music through
free full length mp3 downloads. We will be
expanding our services to mp3 sales in a later
period.
Please note, that we are just opening at this
moment. We still have to build on the website and
the catalogue.

I hope, that Dubroom Star Selections will grow out
to become a quality outlet for the better
conscious (DUB) Reggae.
We have allready received questions by people, as
to whether we would only release music of a
certain religious kind. We can be short: no.
Dubroom Star Selections is completely in-line with
the policy of the Dubroom. To read an in-depth
article about the Dubroom's philosophy, click
here.
In short (from the Dubroom
faq):
I want to be featured on The Dubroom, but I
am not religious. Do all the tracks or featured
labels have to be religious?
No, ofcourse not, as long as your music is not
of pornographic or anti-Jah content, and as long
as it is dub or (other) reggae. We're all
responsible for ourselves. On the other hand:
when you deal with Reggae Music and you are not
religious, you have at least found a way to deal
with the many religious Reggae releases.
What are the requirements to get my music on
the Dubroom?
As you can guess, there are many! People come to
the Dubroom to find good music. The policy of
the website is not to review crap, so when it's
on the Dubroom, it's good. And unfortunnately
this means that most music submitted to the
Dubroom will not be put on the site. To spare
yourself a dissapointment, it might be fruitfull
to read the list of requirements below.
Here is a list:
- The music must be (morally) legal. No
illegal mp3 links.
- The music must be (Dub) Reggae or related.
- Related music is most likely not to be put
on the Dubroom.
- Related to (Dub) Reggae is defined by The
Dubroom as: ragga, ska, dancehall.
- The music must have at least the quality
that is on avarage found here in The Dubroom.
- The recordings must be of reasonable
quality, not practice tape style recorded with
one microphone, unless the music is
historically relevant.
- (for net-label)The music must be available
for free download, and must be full-length.
- The music should not contain any offenses
towards the Creator.
- The music should not have so-called adult
contents and should not contain calls to
violence, in other words, no slackness.
